The Titanic was one of the biggest and most famous ships in the world. On 15 April 1912, it hit an iceberg and began to sink. As passengers were getting ready to leave the ship, the musicians were asked to play music. They carried on playing while people were frightened and confused. Their music helped to keep people calm. We don't know exactly what the musicians played at the very end. One famous story says they played Nearer, My God, to Thee, but historians aren't certain that this really happened. What we do know is that the musicians stayed at their posts during a terrifying disaster. Their story has never been forgotten.
