As well as guitar tuition, Up Strum offers whole-class ukulele lessons for primary schools.

Our ukulele programme runs over 12 weeks (two half terms) and is designed to give children a fun, practical introduction to making music together. Lessons combine ukulele playing, singing, rhythm activities and musical topics that link with the National Curriculum for Music.
 

Throughout the course, children will:
 

• Learn the parts of the ukulele and how to hold and play it correctly

• Develop an understanding of rhythm, pitch and dynamics

• Learn simple chords and strumming patterns

• Play rhythm games and develop their sense of pulse and timing

• Sing while accompanying themselves on the ukulele

• Explore musical topics and vocabulary through practical activities
   

At the end of each 12-week programme, pupils have the opportunity to showcase what they have learned in a performance for parents and classmates.
 

The emphasis throughout is on making music accessible, enjoyable and engaging, while helping children develop the skills and confidence to play together as a class.
