Can you imagine making a violin from rubbish? In Cateura, Paraguay, a music teacher called Favio Chávez wanted children in his community to learn to play music. But there weren't enough instruments for everyone. So people began making instruments from things they found around the local rubbish dump. Old pieces of wood, metal and other discarded objects were turned into violins, cellos, guitars and drums. The children learned to play them and formed an orchestra called the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura. Their music became famous around the world. The children showed everyone that you don't need the most expensive instruments to make great music. Sometimes an old piece of rubbish can become something amazing when someone has a clever idea.
